One of Intact America's greatest strengths is the diverse and supportive intactivist community. Our "Intactivist of the Month" series highlights some of the most ardent opponents of infant and childhood circumcision, whose tireless efforts will ensure a future where all babies are kept intact.

JULY 2017: This month, we want to recognize and thank the many, many wonderful people who took the intactivist message to Pride events around the U.S. and Canada.

For the eighth year in a row, intactivists marched under the Intact America banner in NYC Pride — and 2017 was the third year we rocked a float. In the excitement of the day, it was difficult to get a number, but we've calculated that nearly 50 ardent supporters were with our contingent as we worked our way down 5th Avenue and into Greenwich Village on Sunday, June 25. Thanks to everybody who showed up, braved the summer heat, and showed the crowds lining the streets what Intact America and Foreskin Pride are all about. Special credit goes to David Grant, Julia Legutko, and Amy Callan for advanced planning, and to the wonderful Audra (Ms Blu) Berger, who kept the music and foreskin-friendly lyrics flowing and rocking the crowd. And a special thanks to Shelton Walden for recording the events on video.

For the first time at NYC Pride, IA also hosted a "booth" at PrideFest, the huge street fair held in the West Village. A small and awesome group of volunteers – including Dan Bollinger, Adam Zeldis, Brett Hawkins, Kristal Garcia and Stephen Patterson – worked the crowd, handing out educational information, answering questions, and helping to coordinate selfies and group photos with with Foreskin Frank emerging from the closet.

Meanwhile, Foreskin Pride and the protection of children from genital cutting have been themes at Pride events across North America this summer.

In San Francisco, three dozen intactivists carried signs protesting circumcision and all forms of non-consensual genital surgery – male, female and intersex. In this photo by Vancouver photographer James Loewen, Marilyn Milos commemorates the work of the late Bay Area intactivist Jonathon Conte.

Other 2017 Pride events with an intactivist presence include Boston and Indianapolis (June 10), Milwaukee and Detroit (June 11), and Chicago (June 25). Intactivists also staffed a booth at the Indianapolis Pride Fest. Thanks to Cynthia Maloney and Ron Low for the info above; Ron writes: "Equal protection for ALL genders" was a very well received message this year.

In Canada, a Foreskin Pride contingent was scheduled to march in Victoria on Sunday, July 9; Vancouver and Montreal will hold their Pride events in August, and intactivists will be marching in both.

It looks like the foreskin is finally OUT OF THE CLOSET, and has found a friendly home in the LGBTQ community! Thanks to all of you who came out for the parades, the booths, and to watch. You’re our Intactivists of the Month – and beyond!
