JANUARY 2016: The Intactivist of the Month for January 2016 is Onision – comedian, author, director, musician, and banana (an identity he proclaimed in a 2009 song).
Born in 1985, Onision was raised – it’s believed – somewhere in Oregon. To say the artist is a “controversial figure” is an understatement. He engages in ongoing public fights, and has shared intimate details of his romantic relationships on social media, including Twitter (where he has more than 250,000 followers) and his four YouTube channels, with over 2 million subscribers. He’s sometimes been challenged for the veracity of his various stories about his girlfriends.
Onision tweets and vlogs regularly about circumcision, calling it mutilation and in rapid-fire rap busting all the myths – that it’s cleaner, that it doesn’t harm sensitivity, and that it protects men from HIV (for the latter, he provides maps of circumcising and non-circumcising countries which show that rates of HIV/AIDS are higher in countries where circumcision is common than in those where it isn’t).
Below, you’ll find some links to Onision videos about circumcision. Because they’re definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work), you might have to wait to get home before listening, but here are a few soundbites:
- “You know who loves circumcision? Lotion companies!”
- “If you’re not circumcised, it means your parents love you.” (He also throws out the suggestion that circumcised young men should sue their parents.)
- “Circumcised men are broken.” (The artist, by the way, identifies himself among the broken.)
- “Circumcision is… freaking insane!!”
But don’t take our word for it. Check out Onision’s anti-circ rants on YouTube, and you’ll see why he’s January’s Intactivist of the Month.
