In no man’s story does his forgetfulness or denial spare him from the consequences of child genital cutting. Even if he is completely unaware of his “shortcomings,” he may still suffer from complications, like being at an increased risk for erectile dysfunction.

For him, ignorance is not bliss, but knowledge is torment. It’s no wonder so many men cringe and cross their legs when they hear the word circumcision.

A newborn boy who was genitally cut will probably not recall being restrained, or his penis being clamped and cut (one in five men say they do remember it). What he is unaware of is that his brain may not develop normally because of the severe pain and trauma.
